A Probabilistic Model for Camera Zoom Detection
نویسندگان
چکیده
Camera motion detection is essential for automated video analysis. We propose a new probabilistic model for detecting zoom-in/zoom-out operations. The model uses EM to estimate the probability of a zoom versus a nonzoom operation from standard MPEG motion vectors. Traditional methods usually set an empirical threshold after deriving parameters proportional to zoom, pan, rotate and tilt. In contrast, our probabilistic model has a solid probabilistic foundation and a clear, simple probability threshold. Experiments show that this probabilistic model significantly out-performs a baseline parametric method for zoom detection in both precision and recall.

Advanced Video Surveillance with Pan Tilt Zoom Cameras
In this paper an advanced video surveillance system is proposed. Our goal is the detection of the people’s heads to allow their obscuration for privacy issues or to perform recognition tasks. We propose a system based on active PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras that produce head images having a large enough size, and can cover an area larger than still cameras. Since conventional approaches are not s...
متن کاملRobust Estimation of Camera Parameters Pan, Tilt and Zoom for Integration of Virtual Objects into Video Sequences
The integration of virtual objects into an image sequence captured by a moving camera is of high interest for special eeects in tv-and lm-productions. For the composition, the camera parameters of the real camera are estimated and transferred to a virtual camera. The estimation accuracy is very critical, because even small estimation errors can be recognised as localisation jitter of the insert...
متن کاملVideo Surveillance of High Security Facilities
An integrated system for automatic detection, handover and tracking of an intruder using one fixed camera and one Pan/Tilt/Zoom(PTZ) camera is presented. This system includes automatic detection using an overhead static camera of an intruder who walks into a crowded secure area, intruder handover from the static to the nearest PTZ camera, and tracking using the PTZ camera. The intruder is detec...
متن کاملContinuous Tracking Within and Across Camera Streams
This paper presents a new approach for continuous tracking of moving objects observed by multiple, heterogeneous cameras. Our approach simultaneously processes video streams from stationary and Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras. The detection of moving objects from moving camera streams is performed by defining an adaptive background model that takes into account the camera motion approximated by an affine...
متن کاملForeground/Background Separation Via Camera Motion Estimation
Camera motion estimation is an important step in the compression of video sequences taken with a real camera. By obtaining zoom and pan parameters that account for camera translation, rotation and change of focus, it is possible to devote all the subsequent compression efforts on the coding of the foreground motion. In this paper, we propose a new approach to zoom and pan detection. First, the ...
